The deal is for a one-year, $20m (£10.6m) agreement, promoting some reports that the future of the US Grand Prix is uncertain. But Tony George, chief executive of the Indianapolis circuit which hosts the race said it made sense to sign only a one-year deal given the uncertainty within the sport because of the expiry next year of the Concorde agreement which regulates Formula One.
The future of the US grand prix has been under scrutiny since 2005 when tyre concerns turned it into a six-car procession.
