A brand new international Rugby League tournament, the Federation Shield, will kick off in England this autumn.

Teams from England, France, Samoa and Tonga will compete for the trophy as part of preparations for the World Cup in 2008. Matches will be played in both England and France.

The tournament will receive a high-profile kick off with a double-header match night at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds on Sunday, October 22 when Tonga face Samoa and England play France.

The opening game between England and France and the final will be televised live by Sky Sports in the UK.
