The Sharjah stadium could be set to host a Twenty20 club tournament early next year, according to organisers.
Organisers said they would invite the champion Twenty20 teams from Test-playing nations in January before the 2007 World Cup.
At present India is the only Test-playing country that does not have a domestic Twenty20 championship but there are plans to launch its first tournament just after the 2007 World Cup.
The inaugural Twenty20 World Championship for international teams will take place in South Africa in September 2007.
