SPANISH PRIMERA LIGA SIGNS THREE NEW TV DEALS

The Spanish Primera Liga signed three new TV deals with UK pay TV broadcaster British Sky Broadcasting, with German cable consortium Arena and with Talpa TV in the Netherlands.

Under BSkyB’s new deal Sky Sports will broadcast at least two matches from each week of each campaign and coverage will include a number of double-headers and a regular magazine show, Revista de la Liga.

All three deals are for three years and run until the end of the 2008-09 season. Arena’s acquisition is yet another blow to German pay rival Premiere, which had previously held the rights.

The new season begins on the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August 2006.
