INDIAN BROADCASTERS MAY SHARE COMMONWEALTH GAMES

The Indian government is to meet with the country’s broadcasters later this month to discuss the broadcast of the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games.

In a meeting slated for August 5 with broadcasting industry representatives, information and broadcasting minister PR Dasmunsi is expected to discuss the possibility of sharing public-service broadcaster Doordarshan’s signal of Commonwealth Games with the commercial channels. The commercial broadcasters would then extensively promote the Games in a nationwide campaign to promote the Games.

London-based sports marketing agency, Fast Track, sold the India territory TV rights for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to Doordarshan, for an undisclosed amount.
