NORWICH CITY OPENS FLAGSHIP SPACES FOR SPORTS

Norwich City manager Nigel Worthington, England goalkeeper Robert Green and Delia Smith visited Carrow Road, in Norwich, to officially open the new ‘flagship’ sports site Carrow Park on behalf of Barclays Spaces for Sports.

Following a £600,000 cash injection from Barclays and the Football Foundation, Carrow Park is now ready to be launched after the installation of a brand new floodlit, artificial turf sports facility complete with disabled access. The new facilities, located next to the Norwich City FC stadium, will ensure a range of activities, including football, rugby, tennis and netball can now be offered to the local community.

Local children were joined by Norwich City FC manager Nigel Worthington, goalkeeper Robert Green, basketball player Delme Herriman, and former England rugby star and World Cup winner Kyran Bracken to take part in coaching sessions in football, tag rugby and basketball to mark the opening of the site for public use.

With the backing of Norwich City Football Club and Football In The Community, the site is part of a £30million investment from the Barclays Spaces for Sports initiative to create sustainable sports facilities across the UK. The project will receive a further £45,000 from Barclays to ensure the sustainability of the site plus kit and equipment worth £5,000.
