Following a £600,000 cash injection from Barclays and the Football Foundation, the Community Centre 4 Skills site has now been transformed with the installation of a brand new floodlit, 11-a-side artificial turf pitch. The new facilities, located six miles from The Valley, will ensure a range of activities, including football, tag rugby, netball and hockey can now be offered to the local community.
With the backing of Charlton Athletic Football Club and The Charlton Athletic Charitable Trust, the site is part of a £30 million investment from the Barclays Spaces for Sports initiative to create sustainable sports facilities across the UK. The project will receive a further £45,000 from Barclays to ensure the sustainability of the site plus kit and equipment worth £5,000.
