UEFA TO DECIDE AC MILAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FATE

Uefa said that AC Milan's place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League will be reviewed by its emergency panel later today.

AC Milan was included on a list of clubs submitted by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) following a decision by the appeals court in Italy on Tuesday to reinstate the club to the competition. It had initially been banned from entering the Champions League this season after being found guilty in the Serie A match-fixing probe.

European football’s governing body said that its emergency panel would consider the Italian entries for the competition and that Milan’s place is not a foregone conclusion.

The emergency comprises Uefa president Lennart Johansson, Senes Erzik of Turkey, Jeu Sprengers of the Netherlands and one other executive committee member.
