PLATINI TO RUN FOR EUROPEAN FOOTBALL'S TOP JOB

Tagged in , &

Michel Platini, the former captain of France, confirmed that he will stand for election for the presidency of Uefa, European football’s governing body.

Platini is already a member of the executive committees of both Uefa and Fifa. He has been officially presented as a candidate by the French Football Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes.

He will stand against Lennart Johansson, the incumbent Uefa president, who confirmed his intention to seek re-election earlier this month. The elections take place at the Uefa congress in Dusseldorf, Germany in January.
