BERLIN TO BID FOR OLYMPICS

Berlin plans to bid for either the 2016 or 2020 Olympic Games according to city Mayor Klaus Wowereit.

He said Berlin would seek the support of the German Olympic Committee which is presided over by Thomas Bach, a vice-president of the International Olympic Committee. Hamburg also intends to make a bid for the games.

However, Wowereit said Berlin would have the budget and the infrastructure to host the Games. He said, “It's all there already, we have a renovated Olympic stadium and extraordinary sports sites."
