Indian Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar stressed the need for the private sector to be involved in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Dehli.

He said the private sector’s contribution in the fields of television rights, sponsorships, ticketing, licensing, concessions and accommodations for the upcoming Games in Delhi will be vital if the Games is to be financially viable.

With the Delhi Commonwealth Games expected to cost India Rs. 7,000 crores for infrastructural development, training and conduct of the event, the Minister said the Government is looking for a private sector contribution of Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 4,000 crores.
