Suzuki has postponed its full world rally championship debut from mid-2007 to 2008 after the sport’s governing body, the FIA, scrapped plans to run the season football-style over two calendar years.

The Japanese manufacturer said it would now aim to make its debut in January 2008. It had previously said it would enter in mid-2007 when the championship was due to run from August to May 2008.

The company said that it would enter several World Championship Rallies with its SX4 car next year for test and development purposes.
