NEW STADIUM FOR 2012 CRICKET WORLD CUP

The 2011 Cricket World Cup final will be held in a brand new stadium in the Indian capital, Delhi.

Work on the new venue is expected to start later this year. The local cricket board will build the stadium but is yet to purchase the land. The new venue will replace the Feroz Shaha Kotla ground, also owned by the local cricket association, which has hosted all international matches in Delhi for the last 14 years.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will each stage semi-finals in 2011, with the opening ceremony taking place in Bangladesh. India will stage 22 matches in all, Pakistan 16, Sri Lanka nine and Bangladesh six.
