ECB ENCOURAGES FREE TO AIR BIDS

The England and Wales Cricket Board said it wanted terrestrial broadcasters to "bid aggressively" for its TV rights when they next come onto the market.

The board faced a barrage of criticism when it sold exclusive rights for live coverage of all England's home games from 2006 to 2009 to Pay-TV broadcaster BSkyB.

The ECB said that it hoped broadcasters who did not bid for the rights last time would now view it as a mistake on their part.
