Italian public-service broadcaster Rai acquired the exclusive rights for Euro 2008 in a deal with the Sportfive agency and Uefa.
Rai is a long-standing partner of Uefa and has broadcast coverage of all previous editions of the European Football Championships. It is also Uefa’s broadcast partner for the European Under-21 Championships. Rai also recently acquired rights for the Uefa Champions League for the period 2006 to 2009.
The deal is the first to be signed for Euro 2008 in any of Europe’s big five markets.
