Bridgestone was awarded a three-year deal until 2010 by motor sport’s world governing body the FC)dC)ration Internationale de l’Automobile. Bridgestone supplies only the Ferrari team among the top teams in this year’s championship.
Bridgestone will actually become the only supplier to the championship from 2007 as its rival Michelin, which won the title with Renault last year, has quit Formula 1. It says it does not approve of the decision to use control tyres in Formula 1 and did not tender for the supplier contract.
