CARLSBERG TO EXTEND ENGLAND FOOTBALL DEAL

Danish beer brand Carlsberg said that it would extend its sponsorship of the England football team next month in a deal that is expected to run until after the World Cup in 2010.

Carlsberg’s existing deal with the English Football Association expires at the end of August 2006. Under the new deal Carlsberg would remain one of a handful of main sponsors of the English FA that can use its logo in places such as football grounds and at Football Association events. The company is also a main sponsor for the Swiss national team.

Carlsberg said beer sales in June have been better than expected in several markets in Europe and Asia on the back of the World Cup.
