The club is expected to bring in revenues of around Eur300 million for the 2006-07 season, a big increase on the 2005-06 season, in large part due to the start of a new TV rights contract. An offer from the Mediapro agency will give the club a minimum of Eur125 million a year from its television rights from next season, an offer that its existing broadcast partner TelevisiC3 de Catalunya can still match. The deal means that in five years the club has moved from an annual budget of Eur170 million and a loss of Eur60 million (for the 2002-03 season) to a budget of at least Eur280 million for 2006-07.
FC Barcelona is also set to agree a deal with Unicef, the United Nations Children’s Fund, to carry its logo on its shirts. Barcelona has never carried a shirt-sponsor and the club will give over some of its revenues to Unicef in order to carry its logo. The Unicef deal will be officially announced on the club’s pre-season tour to the US.
