In its first two weeks FIFAWorldCup.com attracted over 2.5bn page views – beating the 2bn achieved during the 2002 tournament, jointly hosted by South Korea and Japan.
Most notably, its decision to stream free video highlights to most territories has paid off handsomely with more than 60m streams.
Other key figures released this week, as the tournament enters the second knock-out stage, include 41m page views via its mobile web portal, and 750,000 registered players in its official fantasy game.
Final figures for the site will be released shortly after the final in Berlin on July 9.
