SWISS FIRM PENS EURO 2008 DEAL

Swiss manufacturer Caran d’Ache has inked a licensing agreement with European soccer’s governing body UEFA and Warner Bros. Consumer Products for a new range of goods bearing the UEFA Euro 2008 trademarks.

The deal marks the first time the firm, which produces ‘fine arts products and writing instruments’ has entered into a licensing arrangement. It will see Caran d’Ache merchandise featuring the official Euro 2008 marks available in Europe from the autumn of 2006.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products remains UEFA’s worldwide licensing representative for the tournament, which will take place in Austria and Switzerland in June 2008.

It will partner Caran d’Ache in developing its Euro 2008 collection.

Silvio Laurenti, Caran d’Ache general director, said: “This partnership will bring the Caran d’Ache brand to football-lovers across Europe and highlight our role as a high class representative of Swiss enterprise.”
