NHL SET TO HIKE UP SALARY CAP?

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is set to increase the league’s salary cap by $5m next season to $44m, according to reports in the US.

After meetings in New York it is claimed the top level has been agreed for each team after league revenues increased after the season long lock-out.

The lower limit will be set at $28m according to the reports.

Confirmation of the details is likely later this month following board of governor meetings takes place later today and full confirmation of last season’s revenues.
