ARMSTRONG PILES PRESSURE ON POUND

Tagged in , &

Tour de France legend Lance Armstrong has called on the IOC to kick Dick Pound out as head of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Armstrong has written to IOC president Jacques Rogge and the IOC Executive Board calling for Pound to be replaced over his handling of doping allegations against the cyclist.
The seven-times Tour de France champion said: “Dick Pound has always been quick to admonish others and to call for officials accused of misconduct to be sanctioned and removed from involvement in the Olympic movement."
He added: “If the individuals responsible do not accept responsibility and yield their positions voluntarily, those individuals must be suspended or expelled from the Olympic movement.”
The IOC said the letter had been received and would be discussed by the Executive Board.
