Annika Sorenstam told Golf World, she was concerned at ‘where we are headed’.
Since Carolyn Bivens took over as commissioner in September, a number of senior figures have quit the LPGA – most recently Deb Richard, senior vice president of golf, Julie Tyson, vice president of partnerships, and Liz Ausman, chief strategic officer.
Richard issued a broadside to Bivens on her departure, saying she had ‘lost faith’ in the leadership.
Sorenstam told the magazine: “We have all worked very hard the last few years to build the LPGA into the wonderful product we have today. I am quite concerned about some of the decisions and changes I have seen lately. I just wonder where we are headed.”
Bivens said: “As women's golf continues to grow and the popularity of the LPGA skyrockets, our organisation will continue to evolve.”
