FIFA INVESTIGATES EMPTY SEATS

Organisers of the FIFA World Cup say they are looking into how thousands of seats were left empty during one of the opening round games.

Around 6,000 seats were empty for the Holland game against Serbia & Montenegro – despite claims every game would be sold out.

A spokesman for the German organising committee said: “We are looking into who owned the tickets where the seats were empty. The match was actually sold out.”
