Chiefs say it ‘optimises’ the layout of venues within the park and includes the relocation of the volleyball competition to Earls Court.
London 2012 organising committee chairman Sebastian Coe said: "We are delighted that we are setting new standards and benchmarks for delivering the IOC's vision of a sustainable legacy.
"This is the first time a city has both Games effectiveness and legacy enshrined together, less than one year since Singapore and six years to go to the Games."
The Olympic Park masterplan has been approved by the IOC and the relevant sports governing bodies and federations.
