SEVEN BID FOR SOLHEIM CUP

The Ladies European Tour has confirmed seven countries have made bids to host the 2011 Solheim Cup.

The women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, bids received by the deadline came from: England, Italy, Northern Ireland, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Spain.

An LET spokesman said: “These bids will be reviewed over the coming months and the LET will be looking to make a decision before the end of 2006.”

The next Solheim Cup takes place in Halmstad, Sweden, next September.
