SPORTEV RACES TO EXPLOIT RACING UK'S MOBILE RIGHTS

New media rights specialist Sportev has been appointed by Racing UK - owner of media rights for 30 of the leading UK horseracing tracks, to advise on its international mobile phone strategy.

After the launch of both its satellite TV channel and broadband video channel, Racing UK is now looking to commercialise its international mobile rights.

Andrew Brown, chief operating officer, Racing UK, said: “With the rapid take-up of GPRS and 3G mobile devices worldwide and the growth in mobile betting, we are sure that there is a lucrative market for our live programming.

“We need to select the right partners to exploit this demand and Sportev has extensive experience, having worked with football’s FA Premier League among others. We are confident we can work together to create a valuable mobile service for racing fans around the world.”

Sportev chief executive Will Muirhead added: “We will now look to distribute live horse racing from the UK to our network of well over 60 mobile operators and gambling firms worldwide.

“Racing UK has a unique proposition. No other UK-based sports rights holder has the ability to offer live coverage of its entire media portfolio to mobile operators, online sports sites and gambling entities and we look forward to understanding how this will affect this rapidly evolving market.”
