BUSH APPROACHED TO REPLACE NFL BOSS

The brother of US President George Bush has revealed he was approached about replacing Paul Tagliabue as the new commissioner of the NFL.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he had received a private approach from Patrick Rooney Snr, brother of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney – a member of the search committee hunting down Tagliabue’s replacement.

Bush told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper: “I met with Mr Rooney and I said ‘I'm doing my job until I'm finished and then I'm going to consider other things’.”

Tagliabue announced his decision to step down earlier this year and is now expected to quit the job in August.
