BIG TV SHARE FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

The domestic UK TV audience for soccer’s Champions League final between Arsenal and Barcelona on Wednesday toppled the 13 million mark – making it the most watched sporting event of the year.

More than 12m viewers tuned in to ITV1 – the terrestrial commercial TV network – with an additional 1.3m following the game on pay-TV platform Sky, who jointly share the Champions League TV rights.

ITV1’s coverage peaked at 12.2m – a 48 percent audience share.

English Premiership side Arsenal lost 2-1 to Spanish champions Barcelona in the final, staged in Paris.
