TAGLIABUE SUCCESSOR HUNT GETS HELPING HAND

The race to replace NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has taken another twist after an organisation pushing for more diversity in the league formally submitted four candidates for the job.

The Fritz Pollard Alliance has put forward four minority candidates for the job – although refused to identify who they are.

Tagliabue says he will step down from the post in July – although recently hinted he would stay on for longer in order to ensure the right man for the job was selected.
FPA founder Cyrus Mehri said: “Just like the FP Alliance has done for all positions in the NFL over the last few years - coaches and front-office positions - we prepared a list of candidates. At some point we would expect an announcement of the list of finalists."
Team owners are expected to meet again later this month to discuss appointing a successor.
