Senior figures from the five motor manufacturers – Renault, BMW, Honda, Mercedes and Toyota – say a deal is imminent which will finally put paid to threats of any breakaway from the F1 camp in 2008.
At this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix, McLaren boss Ron Dennis said: “We are ready to sign a document which will allow us to move forward and focus on the future of F1. It will constitute the biggest single commercial resolution.”
The new commercial deal, already agreed to by a host of other teams, will replace the existing Concorde Agreement which expires next year.
