It was hailed one of the most exciting FA Cup Finals of all time – and domestic audience figures proved its popularity with host broadcaster the BBC revealing it was the most-watched UK sporting event so far this year.
Initial viewing figures for the match – a thrilling 3-3 draw between Liverpool and West Ham United, resolved only by a penalty shoot-out which saw Liverpool lift the trophy – saw audiences peak at 11.3m.
The BBC carried terrestrial coverage of the match, while pay-TV platform Sky’s live coverage is believed to have pulled in around 700,000.
