EURO 2012 BIDDER'S STEEL SPONSOR

The world’s biggest steel company Mittal Steel has agreed a deal to support the Ukrainian Football Association as lead sponsor in its bid to host soccer’s Euro 2012.

The Ukrainian FA is making a joint bid with the Polish FA to host the event – soccer’s second biggest tournament after the FIFA World Cup.

Mittal has already agreed a similar sponsorship deal with Poland.

Oleg Shkreba, general director of UFI, the exclusive marketing arm of the Ukrainian Football Federation said: “Having chosen a strong partner, with a global reputation, as our lead sponsor we have greatly increased our chances of success. With the support of Mittal Steel we are confident of success in both the outcome of the bid and hosting a memorable sporting event in six years time.”

IMG’s TWI and World In Motion, Mittal’s exclusive sports sponsorship consultants, brokered the deal.
Other bidders hoping land the tournament include Italy and a joint bid from Croatia and Hungary. UEFA will announce the winning bid in December.
