The club, who next week face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final, had held talks with a number of brands about breaking tradition and putting a sponsor’s logo on their famous strip.
But speaking on radio station RAC-1, club president Joan Laporta said the club had abandoned the idea. However, he has not ruled out the shirts carrying more than simply the club badge in future seasons.
He said: “Our decision is that the first team soccer shirt will not carry any advertising of any commercial brand.
“The club will reveal its corporate strategy for promoting a humanitarian message in due course.”
It is widely reported Barcelona have been in talks with online betting company BetandWin and organisers of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games about a possible shirt deal.
