CRICKET CHIEFS BOWLED OVER BY DEMAND

Organisers of the ICC Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean next year say they have been ‘flooded’ with ticket applications after the event put the first batch on sale via the internet.

Just hours after tickets were first put up for grabs, chiefs were saying the figures were already ‘flattering’ and that they had been ‘flooded with application from the second it opened’.
The tournament’s commercial manager Stephen Price said: “We have felt for some time now – given the level of verbal and written interest and queries which we have received from all over the world – that this tournament has the potential to be an overwhelming success in terms of the demand for tickets, and what we’re seeing so far online supports this.”
Following the initial offering online, this week sees the nine host venues launch official ticket centres.
Added Price: “A significant number of applications have already been registered from persons in the UK, Australia and the USA – in that order. We're encouraged by the interest being shown out of these markets.
“Also of major importance was the fact that the online launch was trouble-free.”
