COE DISMISSES COST CONCERNS

Tagged in

The head of the London 2012 organising committee has dismissed claims infrastructure costs are set to soar for the Games.

Sebastian Coe hit back in the wake of claims made in newspapers over the weekend by David Higgins, chief of the Olympic Delivery Authority.

He claimed a boom in local housing as a result of staging the Games could send the budget rocketing by as much as £2bn.
But Lord Coe hit back, saying: “What David Higgins was talking about was non-Olympics costs.
“But he did not say there was a £2bn overrun. This is not what he said and he did not mention a figure.”
