The venue, to be sited in Solna, on the outskirts of the city, will be ready to host its first game in 2011.
The project will be partially funded through the sale of the current national arena – Rasunda, based in the same area of Stockholm.
Stockholm is set to play host to a new 50,000-seater national stadium, Swedish soccer chiefs have confirmed.
