England's disappointing Six Nations tournament has been followed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) announcing a £1million loss from the campaign.

RFU chief executive Francis Baron attributed the loss to incentive payments from TV and sponsorship deals, after England only managed fourth place in the championship.

The reigning World Champions have also dropped to sixth in the official world rankings.
