GILL CALLS FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CHANGES

The chief executive of English Premier League soccer giants David Gill has called on the G14 lobby group to push UEFA to once again change the format of the Champions League.

It comes ahead of a conference hosted by UEFA next month to discuss the future of its club competitions.

Gill wants the G14 to put pressure on UEFA to change the number of Champions League match days from 13 to 17.

However, a UEFA spokesman was reported to have told the BBC: “If clubs come up with this subject we will of course discuss it, although it is difficult because of the international calendar.

“We have excellent relationships with all clubs. Things are different with the G14, because we do not recognise it as an organisation.”
