Figures from Turin show that the payment services company processed more than $9million in sales at terminals in Olympic venues and at the Super Store during the 17 days of the Games.
ATM volume was higher than Athens or Salt Lake City, as well as the average value of Visa transactions. Visa also reported increased business for its smart cards.
With its sponsorship in place through the 2012 Olympics, Visa vice president Tom Shepard says it will be able to focus on its long-term strategies for Beijing, Vancouver and London.
"In Beijing the challenge is consumer awareness, issuing new Visa cards," he said.
"We have good working relations with the Bank of China (BOCOG's banking partner) and will collaborate with them on point of sale development.
"We need to work closer to the organising committee, which we would hope will lead to the opening of governmental laws and restrictions," said Shepard.
