It is thought Nimbus will buy out the promoters of a regional television company in which the foreign broadcaster will pick up a sizeable stake, according to India's Business Standard.
Sources say Nimbus will position the acquired channel as a sports channel with a pan-Asian footprint.
The television and sports marketing company - which recently secured the global media rights to Indian cricket for $612million - would also be able to cash in on subscription and ad revenue if the move goes ahead.
