Following last year’s inaugural SPORTELAsia in Hong Kong, the Shanghai market boasted a 60 per cent increase in the number of stands and an increase of almost 25 per cent in terms of participants.
David Tomatis, executive vice president of SPORTEL, said: “The decision to move to Mainland China encouraged many Chinese companies to join our ranks for the first time, affording new business opportunities for our clients.”
As always, the event brought together top executives representing broadcasters, cable and satellite services, new mobile technologies, professional leagues, program distributors, sports marketing agents, event organisers, satellite services and a host of others.
SPORTEL’s next event is SPORTELMonaco 2006, which will take place October 16-19, 2006 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Last year there were nearly 1,900 participants, representing a record 868 companies from 65 countries worldwide, making it one of the largest SPORTEL events ever.
