SPORT ENGLAND AND FA LAUNCH BUSINESS PLAN

Sport England and The Football Association (The FA) have launched a plan for the future of football development.

It is designed to give young people the best start in learning to play football, retaining their interest as they develop and achieving success at the highest possible level.

The plan has been dubbed ‘Start, Stay and Succeed’.

A range of performance targets including the number of women and girls participating; the number of active accredited clubs; growth in the number of FA Community Clubs and an increase the number of active qualified female coaches.

The plan addresses education, with a focus on attracting new participants through the Out of School Hours Learning Programme; encouraging schools competitions and moving young people from schools into FA Charter Standard Clubs.

The second area is to develop high quality football clubs through The FA and provide football for boys and girls from mini soccer to the adult game.

The third strand is to tackle the shortfall and boost the resources allocated for girls and women’s football, including developing the network of Centres of Excellence.

The final priority is to develop the current football workforce with more training and support for coaches, teachers, officials, volunteers and the network of football development staff across the country.
