IAAF REVAMPS GOLDEN LEAGUE JACKPOT

Tagged in &

The IAAF has come up with a new concept for its Golden League Jackpot to apply from the 2006 season.

It is retaining the $1million prize but making it possible for more athletes to benefit.

In recent years the jackpot has been shared by athletes that won their event at all six Golden League meetings.

Now, athletes who win at any five of the six meetings will share a purse of $500,000, allowing more athletes to retain an interest in the Jackpot for longer during the Golden League season.

It means an additional $500,000 becomes on offer to be shared by athletes who succeed in winning a sixth time.

As usual all Jackpot winners will be required to compete at the season ending IAAF World Athletics Final (taking place in Stuttgart, Germany on September 9-10) to qualify for the prize.
