RFL AGREES BROADBAND DEAL

Servecast, a supplier of new media sports broadcasting, has signed a three-year deal with the Rugby Football League to create and host a pay-per-view and subscription broadband video service.

The deal with the governing body of Rugby League in England will deliver ‘Super League TV’ on the engage Super League competition’s official website www.engagesuperleague.co.uk

Two games per week will be available live on the website for international viewers and will also be available on demand immediately afterwards for the duration of the contract.

In the UK, France and the Middle East the matches will be available as archived, video-on-demand content with a 24-hour delay. Ten-minute highlights will also be available after a 24-hour delay from the end of each match.

Live coverage of each of the seven Tri-Nations matches and the World Cup Challenge matches will also be available. These matches will be included in the pay-per-view and the subscription package.

The Servecast service includes the design, building and setting up of the subscription and delivery platform for the service. Servecast Digital Rights Management will also be applied to all archive content and will ensure end users can securely download video clips.

Servecast are also managing the billing and security for the site including an online payment interface, a tailored revenue tracking system and a subscriber database.

It will also provide regular end-of-the-month reporting including content usage, user analysis, geographic location, sales and revenue related to the pay-per-view and subscription sales.
