BALI TO HOST GOLF'S 2008 INDONESIA OPEN

The European Tour will visit Bali for the first time when the tourist haven hosts the 2008 Indonesia Open.

The 2008 tournament will be held at the newly built New Kuta Golf complex, part of GolfLink Resorts' plans to rejuvenate the tourism industry in Bali.

Suprapto Pegeng, president director of GolfLink Resorts, said the company was building three courses, including one in the New Kuta area, parts of which will be built to replicate Bali's famous Kuta Beach centre.

"We are thrilled that our course will be hosting the 2008 Indonesia Open," said Suprapto.

"When we started to build this facility, it was our ambition to host a world-class tournament and you can't get much better than an event co-sanctioned by both the European and Asian Tours."

Construction started on November 19, 2005 and is due to finish by mid-2007.

The event will be promoted by Parallel Media Asia.
