The decision to use TEAMtalk Media content on www.itv.com/worldcup builds on an existing deal to provide football and boxing websites to the ITV.com portal.
TEAMtalk Media will supply up-to-the-minute news and information to the site via its own network, which includes sportinglife.com and football365.com.
ITV Online will use the information to supplement its own content from ITV Sport.
The site will chart the build-up to the tournament, before providing live news and comment throughout the World Cup itself.
“We have the largest dedicated sports news team in the UK and we’ll be placing these resources at the disposal of ITV in the run-up to the World Cup,” says David Annat, managing director of TEAMtalk Media Group.
This announcement follows ITV’s confirmation of Budweiser and EDF Energy to share joint broadcast sponsorship of all its coverage of the tournament.
