Oregan Hoskins has been elected president of the South African Rugby Union (SARU), defeating the incumbent Brian van Rooyen.
The KwaZulu-Natal rugby boss was voted in at the annual general meeting in Cape Town.
Mike Stofile was elected as deputy president and Western Province's Koos Basson vice-president.
Van Rooyen said the sport had suffered setbacks in the past year but these were overshadowed by triumphs and achievements.
In relation to an ongoing inquiry into alleged financial mismanagement, he asked to be given a chance to state his side of the story.
