Theodore Forstmann, chairman and CEO of IMG, said, “Mr. Sinrich’s departure stemmed from differences over recent organisational changes and the future course of IMG and TWI.
"It is unfortunate that we could not reconcile those differences, but given that, we both agreed it is in the best interest of IMG and TWI that Bill leaves the company.”
Checketts will assist TWI's senior management until a permanent replacement is selected.
He is also the chairman of Sports Capital Partners, a consulting and investment firm for sports teams and media assets that he founded after a 10-year career at Madison Square Garden, where he served as president and CEO from 1994 to 2001.
Checketts also served as the president of the New York Knicks professional basketball team from March 1991 to September 1994 and is now a director of Citadel Broadcasting, a radio broadcaster, and a director of Jet Blue Airways Corporation.
