BBC SEALS INDIA RADIO RIGHTS DEAL

UK public broadcaster the BBC has won exclusive radio rights to all international tour matches in India for four years, including next month's England series.

The deal allows the BBC to broadcast live commentary across any of its radio networks for a total of 10 series.

The radio agreement entitles the BBC to cover matches from all major international sides visiting India including Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

But English TV coverage of the series is still in doubt with new rights holder (Nimbus) asking for higher fees.

Negotiations are continuing to try to reach an agreement on TV coverage ahead of the first Test in Nagpur, which starts on March 1.

Nimbus, which paid $612m (£352m) for rights to India's home matches until 2010, reportedly wants £5million from English TV and is in talks with satellite broadcaster Sky.

Sky faces competition from Asian-run TV channels in the UK, such as Sony and ARY Digital, which is broadcasting India's current tour of Pakistan.
